Modern Elegance Meets Waterfront Living in Jupiter

The Property

Set on an enviable 2.5-acre riverfront lot in Jupiter, Florida, this 6-bedroom, 6-bathroom property presented a unique opportunity to perform a significant renovation and allow it to reach its full potential.

Originally built in 2003, the dark wood cabinetry set on yellow and beige tones had aged poorly. What should have felt like an expansive waterfront home instead felt dark and oppressive.

The Mandate

Having recently taken ownership of the property, our clients asked Palm Club Design Group to undertake a transformative remodel of the property. “Light, bright, and airy” were terms shared by the client during discovery. Palm Club was given broad discretion to play with the architectural design and layout of the home to maximise its potential.

The Plan

With the project mandate in hand, Palm Club set about re-imagining the architectural design and layout of the property. Palm Club identified that by reconfiguring the second floor of the home, we would be able to obtain the following highly sought-after features:

  • Separate ‘his and hers’ master bathrooms with attached walk-in closets

  • An additional upstairs bedroom and bathroom combination

  • An elevator

Having identified the appropriate contractor from our pool of vetted general contractors best suited for the project, Palm Club initiated the construction process for the client. In parallel, Palm Club initiated the detailed design process that would deliver the bright, uplifting look and feel the clients sought to achieve.

Design Details

The temptation when designing a ‘bright’ home is to overutilize white tones. By curating a careful selection of tile and stonework with unique and interesting color pallets Palm Club was able to avoid the light and bright theme becoming sanitized.

For the ‘his’ master bathroom, we chose to implement a sophisticated, darker color palette to bring some contrast to the master wing. Custom cabinetry with contemporary styling was installed throughout the home, replacing the previously installed dated and ornate cabinetry.

Our signature use of white oak flooring and panelling in key locations, contrasted with bold metallic fixture details, added the final touch of character to the overall design aesthetic.

The Outcome

This project once again highlights the truly transformative opportunity that exists by renovating or remodelling an existing home. While some view demolition and rebuilding as the only way to obtain a modern home, Palm Club Design Group firmly believes that renovating older homes is not only a viable alternative, but in most cases, it is the faster and more cost-effective option.
