Old Palm Luxury Remodel With Modern Character
The Property
Located in the prestigious Old Palm Golf Club Estate in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida this expansive 8,000 square foot house contained an eclectic mix of color tones, finishes and architectural details.
The Mandate
With a pair of burgeoning careers and two very young children, our clients tasked Palm Club Design Group to perform an expansive remodel of their recently acquired Old Palm home.
The clients had two primary objectives for the remodel. Firstly, to increase the usable living space in the home, including maximising the number of usable bedrooms in the residence. Secondly, the clients wanted to modernize the home while avoiding the ‘sterile grey box aesthetic that characterized similar residences in the neighborhood.

The Plan
Palm Club Design Group immediately recognized the potential that the floor plan of this home provided. Working closely with one of our vetted general contractors, we were able to identify interior spaces that could be opened up or reframed to improve the architectural flow of the residence. Through considered architectural design decisions, Palm Club was able to join the living and dining spaces to create a seamless formal entertaining space. Additionally, Palm Club decided to move the fireplace to the opposite wall and use the opportunity to create an award-winning design statement through the use of large-format Calacatta Viola marble.
In parallel, our design team began the material selection process to achieve the ‘modern with character’ design aesthetic sought by our clients.
During the remodel process, several unforeseeable construction-related issues cropped up. However, Palm Club Design Group worked through these issues with both the client and general contractor, finding a satisfactory solution in every case.
Design Details
Palm Club achieved the ‘modern’ theme of the design mandate by utilizing a combination of white oak flooring, white oak wall panelling with metal inlays and stone and tile selections with muted grey and white tones. Character moments were achieved by installing stunning wallpaper prints in key areas of the homes, accented by bold metal finishes across lighting and plumbing fixtures.
The ‘monolithic’ fireplace in Calacatta Viola anchors the heart of the home. This sculptural centerpiece required the coordination of multiple trades to create a stunning, seamless design feature.
Furniture and decor with modern characteristics were carefully selected and procured by Palm Club Design Group to further enhance the overall aesthetic of the home.
The Outcome
Through a combination of careful architectural planning, thoughtful material selection, consultation with contractors and obsessive attention to detail, Palm Club Design Group was able to remodel this Old Palm residence into a stunning modern residence without compromising character.
